YEG – an airport for everyone!

Edmonton International Airport is unlike any other. It is an economic driver, a community builder, a global environmental leader, a port of call for diverse people, businesses, cultures and industries … all centred around the largest land base of any major airport in Canada.

We are the fifth largest airport in Canada when it comes to passengers, typically serving 8.5 million passengers per year with non-stop connections to more than 50 destinations around the world. We have experienced record growth in cargo capacity in the past two years and a $36 million cargo expansion is underway. Soon to be under development is a 2,000-acre international e-commerce, cargo logistics hub. This nation building project will be the largest cargo expansion in the airport’s history, creating thousands of jobs in our community and stimulating billions in economic development.

YEG is home to the Airport City Sustainability Campus which is an ecosystem that includes tourism, e-commerce and cargo logistics, technology, innovation, incubators, retail, entertainment, and has attracted more than $1.3 billion in private investment and a driven economic output of over $3.2 billion.

Our commitment to ESG (environment, social and governance) policies and practices drives every aspect of our business. We were the first airport in the world to sign the Amazon Climate Pledge to be net zero by 2040, we have a landmark partnership with Air Canada to reduce the carbon impacts of air travel, we will be home to the Airport City Solar, the largest solar farm at an airport in the world, we are exploring the adoption of hydrogen for both our operations and our partners in order to decouple our growth from emissions, and these are just a few of our initiatives we have underway.

YEG believes equity and diversity is a strength, and creating an inclusive space is both a privilege and a fundamental responsibility. We are proud to continue strengthen our Indigenous partnerships, to support underrepresented groups to thrive and succeed through careers in aviation and make flights more accessible to everyone in our community. And we’re just getting started.
